Different white and yellow lines have different meaning
Double yellow lines in the middle of the road mean No Stopping and you must not stop there. Whites lines are boundary/edge lines.

Single Yellow Line along the road mean No Parking. You cannot park your vehicle but waiting is allowed, set passenger down is allowed and pick up passenger also allowed.

A single broken/dotted white line with long marking and short gaps in the centre of the road mean Overtaking is Allowed if road is clear. Short broken white lines divide the road into Lanes - keep between them.

A continuous white line in the middle of the road mean Overtaking is not allowed and you cannot change your lane. white lines on the side of the road are the Boundary/Edge lines
